CSI at Kirby Hill

CS1 at Kirby HillChildren at Kirby Hill CE Primary School had a real treat last week when they had their own version of CSI – at school!

Pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 spent the morning learning the skills needed to collect evidence from a crime scene. Using authentic equipment, they were able to collect and analyse finger prints, footprints, hairs and fibres from themselves and their friends.

CSI at Kirby HillIn the afternoon, they got a chance to put their new skills to the test! Dressing up in their Scene of Crime Officer outfits, they entered the school hall to find that they were in a crime scene! In teams, the pupils needed to use all of their new-found skills and knowledge to gather and analyse clues that would lead them to a suspect.

Although not all teams got the right suspect, everyone agreed that they had an amazing day of ‘hands-on’ science that they will remember for a long time!
