School Governors Christmas Letter December 2016

Dear Parents and Carers

Another school term has flown by and the countdown to Christmas Day has begun. The Christmas Fayre last Friday was busy. Thank you to those who attended, it was good to see you there. Thank you also to the Parent Teacher Association who organised it all. The PTA play a very important role in supporting the school and many extra activities would not take place without their financial support.

My biggest thank you however is reserved for the year 6 pupils who created and ran their own stalls. We have some budding entrepreneurs in our midst who encouraged us to part with money in the friendliest of ways. Their positive approach and helpful manner makes them all a good role model for the younger pupils.

It has been a busy term, as always. It has been great to meet and work with our new parent governors Mr Cunningham, Mr Evans and Mr Mayhew. They bring a range of expertise with them.

We knew an OFSTED monitoring inspection would take place in the early part of the term. We were delighted with the outcome. Mrs Lithgow (HMI) was very positive about the way we responded to the full inspection report. We are all working very hard to make sure the next inspection has a better outcome.

I hope you have had chance to read the Communication Newsletter from Mrs Farby. We are always considering ways to engage with parents and carers and it is hoped this will encourage more open dialogue. Mrs Farby has already received positive feedback regarding this newsletter and has acted upon the suggestion made. The first open meeting will be on January 12th between 8.50-9.30am and will focus on communication and how we can develop it further. I hope to meet some of you there.

On a personal note I am collecting used postage stamps for Great Ormond Street Hospital. I would be grateful if you could save the stamps and bring them into school in January. Thank you.

May I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and send my good wishes for 2017.
