Well done to Iris Moulton, Purwa Joshi and Rebekah Chaplin for demonstrating their musical skills to the whole school by playing their instruments for us in the school hall. Today all the children had a musical demonstration by Miss Barber who works for NYCC Peripatetic music Service. If you would like your child to learn a musical instrument please call in at the school office and Mrs Gudgeon and Mrs Williamson will let you have the relevant information. The Peripatetic Service usually starts working with children from Year 2 but if your child is in Year 1 and especially keen Miss Barber would consider a trial session.

I am writing to let you know Mrs Chester has resigned from her post at school. We are very sad to see her leave and wish her well for the future.  The following staff, Mrs Lowther, Ms Lyddon, Mrs Spencer and Miss Wood are working additional hours to cover recent staff changes. Mr Oates continues in the kitchen and as Mrs Cessford is ill he has a new, temporary kitchen assistant Mr Dent.

We will be visiting church on Monday 26th September for our Harvest Festival.  Children are invited to bring a donation of non-perishable goods such as tinned or dried foods on the morning of 26th, which we will take to church when we visit for the service.

English Curriculum Evening
Today you will have received an email reminding you of the forthcoming workshop with Heather Russell, LA English Adviser and Consultant, to share the expectations of the new curriculum with you.  Attached to the email was a booklet called, 'Supporting your child at home Grammar and Punctuation Y1-Y6 (.pdf)’ which we hope will be useful to support your child with their learning (please note you can find a copy of this booklet in the Documents section of this site.)

The interactive workshop is for all parents and carers and will be held on Wednesday 28th September from 7pm – 8pm.  We do hope as many of you as possible will be able to attend. Unfortunately, we cannot provide crèche facilities at this time.  Please add your name to the list in the office if you would like to attend this valuable event.
