Willow Ebonie Oliver Aaron
Oak Purwa Jayden Rebekah
Elm Flo Monty Macey

Beech Will Hanna Thomas
Congratulations to Tom from Beech Class for achieving the Effort Shield last week. Well done!
As the weather was wet, wet, wet last week we weren’t able to arrange the stones outside for you to see but hope to do so this week.
Oak Class had a wonderful visit to Carlton Lodge. They rose to the challenge of meeting the same standards on residential as Willow Class. They had lots of fun, supported each other, went to sleep well, were polite and listened to the instructions.
Once again, thank you to Miss Allan and Mrs Cockerill for volunteering their time to accompany the children on the visit.
Egg Shells and Messy Church
Many thanks for sending in eggshells for Messy Church. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped deliver the event, Mrs Moulton, Mrs Smailes, Mr Welsby and Mrs Widdows, without them the afternoon could not go ahead. Thank you to Rev Alison and staff too, everyone makes a valuable contribution enabling the afternoon to be a success. Our theme was ‘Community’ and we aim to get the work produced displayed in the library area early this week. During the Messy Church afternoon we all thought about the context in which God has placed us and how we need to value the area where we live, go to school and how we are all stewards of the area. The theme encouraged a sense of place and an opportunity to celebrate locality. We may make small changes but things that start small can have a huge impact. The biblical link was the parable of the mustard seed.
PTA Film Night
Thank you to the PTA for organising film night last Friday after school. Thanks to Mrs Garner and Mrs Mackay too for giving up their classrooms to enable the children to have a lovely time at the end of the school day.
Year 6 and Moving Up Morning
The Year 6 have a busy week! Today they attend Crucial Crew and on Tuesday they attend the Leavers’ Service at Ripon Cathedral. Please note we have had to book the number of seats required for the Leavers’ Service, as have other schools, and additional places cannot be allocated to parents and carers who might like to attend.
Those of our Year 6 transferring to Boroughbridge High School in September are on their transition days this week too. We will have our ‘Moving Up’ morning on Friday 7th July.
The class arrangements for the academic year 2017/18 which have been agreed with the Governors and Miss Lowe are as follows:
Beech Class Nursery & Reception with Miss Bartle
Chestnut Class Y1 (current Reception) with Mrs Mackay
Elm Class Y2 (current Y1) with Mrs Garner
Oak Class Y3 and Y4 (current Y2 and Y3) with Mrs Cockerill
Willow Class Y5 and Y6 (current Y4 and Y5) with Miss Allan.
Please note children will line up in their current classes on Friday morning 7th July and not their new classes. They will rehearse lining up for their new class after morning play.
Reports are due to go home with the children tomorrow Tuesday 4th July. Please return the report slip to acknowledge receipt of your child’s report as soon as possible and by Friday 14th July so that they can be filed before the end of term, thank you.
Parent Consultation meetings
On both evenings of the Parent Consultations meetings GFM will be catering for a tasting session of school lunches. This will take place in the school hall and you are all welcome to pop along and try some of the ‘bite size’ samples that they will make available for you to try.
You may have noticed the orange netting in place around school; this is only a temporary measure. School has requested permission and a quote from GFM for some replacement (and more secure) higher fencing on two sides of the school boundary. I will update you about this as soon as I receive a response from GFM.
Just a reminder that our school sports afternoon will be held on Monday 17th July at 1:10 pm. We hope you will be able to join us.
