School Newsletter 8th September 2016

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back!
A very warm welcome to our new children and their families.  I hope you all had a lovely summer.  The children have returned to school looking smart and ready to learn.  We are all committed to addressing the challenges that lie ahead and will continue to aim high and do our best to improve our school with your support.

In preparation for the new academic year the school environment received some improvements during the holidays including internal and external decorating.

Regular newsletters will continue to be sent giving you school information about events and activities, these will also be available on our website.  Class teachers will continue to send a detailed parent information sheet each half term about what your child will be learning.  If you have any questions that are not answered in the correspondence please do not hesitate to ask.
Parent Governor
Welcome and thank you to Mr Mayhew who has come forward to fill our Parent Governor Vacancy.

On the final staff training day of the year, we learnt Mrs Thompson successfully achieved a promotion  in another school.  During the holiday, Mrs Chester our School Cook was also successful in gaining a new job as a cook in a private nursery.  We wish them both all the best in their new roles.  We were very sad to see them leave.  Mr Oates is our new School Cook until further notice.

Could I ask for continued consideration when parking at school.  Last term school received a letter from Kirby Hill & District Parish Council asking me to raise the particular concern of parking at the entrance to Milling Lane (to the left of the church 'triangle') when collecting pupils from school.

Roald Dahl Day
Tuesday 13th September sees the biggest celebration  of Roald Dahl's birthday  as it marks 100 years since he was born.  On this day the children are invited to dress as a character from a Roald Dahl story or rhyme.

Macmillan Fundraiser
On Friday 30th September School will be fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support by wearing green and donating £1 per child for this very worthwhile cause.
Our School Council will also be selling small cakes to the children at morning break so if you could send in baked goods to sell that would be wonderful, thank you.

Parent Consultation Evenings
Our Parent Consultation evenings will be Wednesday 12th October and Thursday 13th October from 3.30pm to 6.00pm.  Mr Oates, School Cook would like to invite parents and carers to taste bite size samples from the School meal menu.  I sampled the steak pie today and it was excellent!  The 'Sampling Session' will take place in the School Hall from 3.00pm to 6.00pm and parent consultations will take place in classrooms.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs V Farby
