Welcome from Miss Lowe
Dear Parents & Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the school community as we welcome all of your children back to school to start a new and exciting school year. I am delighted to be here as your new headteacher and I look forward to getting to know you all.
The staff and I had a very productive day yesterday as we agreed the new Christian values, vision and aims for the school. Together, these will be at the core of all that we do in school (these will be added to the school website this evening). I am a strong advocate for the power of self-belief and wish to instil in all members of the school community the idea that “If you believe it, you can achieve it.”
As a team, we hope to enhance our provision over the coming year so that children experience a challenging and stimulating curriculum with a greater range of exciting opportunities on offer. The first of these new opportunities is the chance for children in Y4/5/6 to go on a trip to Le Touquet in France. A letter from our new French teacher, Madame Heap, will be accompanying this one to provide more information for the relevant families.
I think parents and carers need to have more opportunities to make suggestions about and question what we do in school so I would like to introduce ‘Parent Forums’ which I will hold in school once every half term. To launch this idea, I would like to invite you all to a ‘Meet the Staff’ session at 3.30pm in the school hall, on Tuesday 12th September. All teaching staff (as well as myself) will then introduce themselves and share their expectations with you. This would be the perfect opportunity to ask any generic questions you may have, rather than waiting for parents’ evening.
All teaching staff will be sending out their class information letters with details about curriculum coverage and expectations. They will join me in saying we have an open door policy in school and welcome any feedback – all I ask is that concerns are shared in a polite and calm manner. I will not tolerate abuse of staff. We need to work together to resolve any issues and to ensure that all members of our school community are happy and enjoy being a valued member of Kirby Hill C of E School.
I do hope that many of you can make it next Tuesday and I look forward to meeting you.
