Pupil Leadership

Giving our pupils a voice is incredibly important to us at Kirby Hill C of E Primary School. We actively encourage children to get involved in every aspect of school life, and we truly value and respect their opinions and contributions.

Our school committees are always popular because children know they can make a genuine difference. In fact, interest is often so high that for some roles we follow a formal application process - and sometimes even hold interviews - for pupils wishing to join a particular committee. For many roles, older pupils help to run these interviews at the end of the academic year, supporting the selection process and acting as role models.

Our School Council and Eco Warriors play a key role in shaping life at Kirby Hill. Each year, pupils vote to elect their representatives, mirroring the democratic process at a national level. This not only supports our commitment to British Values but also helps pupils understand how citizens can influence decision-making. Through their roles, our class representatives listen to their classmates, bring forward ideas, and work together to make real, positive changes in our school - from environmental projects to improvements in daily school life.

We use our annual Dream Big Day to explore the skills behind different careers, roles, and responsibilities in school. This helps pupils identify their strengths and choose committees that match their talents and interests.

Pupil voice is at the heart of everything we do. Many of our clubs are pupil-led, and charity days are often inspired and organised by the children themselves. By empowering our pupils in this way, we help them to see that their ideas can create real change.
