Forest School

At Kirby Hill C of E Primary School, every class takes part in Forest School for half a term each year, with additional sessions in the summer term to make the most of the great outdoors.

Forest School is a child-centred approach that encourages independence, resilience, confidence and teamwork. It gives children the chance to learn new skills, explore nature, take risks safely, and develop perseverance in a fun and practical way. From building shelters and lighting fires to exploring wildlife and creating natural crafts, Forest School helps children connect with the natural world while building essential life skills.

These sessions are led by Mrs Nicola Laycock, our trained Forest School leader, who inspires awe and wonder while giving children opportunities to grow in confidence and capability. Forest School also supports wellbeing, giving pupils space to slow down, reduce stress, and simply enjoy the joy of learning outdoors.
