UK Parliament Visit Kirby Hill
We were delighted to welcome Mikey Collinson, representing UK Parliament, into school this week for a special assembly all about democracy and how Parliament works.
During the session, pupils learned about:
-
The House of Commons – who works there, how they’re elected, and what their job involves.
-
The House of Lords – who works there, how they’re appointed, and what they do.
-
The difference between Parliament and Government.
-
Ways for young people to have their voices heard – from contacting their MP to starting or signing a petition.
The assembly was engaging and inspiring, giving our children a real insight into how decisions are made in the UK and how they themselves can get involved. A huge thank you to Mikey Collinson for visiting and answering our pupils’ questions.
