Le Touquet, France
In June, KS2 have the wonderful opportunity to take part in our annual trip to Le Touquet - a fantastic joint adventure with Bishop Monkton CE Primary School. Mrs Cowling, Headteacher at Bishop Monkton, is also one of our school governors.
We as always were incredibly proud of our Kirby Hill children. They had a fabulous time trying new experiences from tasting snails and visiting a working chocolate factory, to exploring a traditional French market and making their own croissants. The children embraced every moment with enthusiasm and confidence putting their French language skills into practice throughout the trip.
We were most impressed with the kindness and friendship they showed, not only towards each other but also towards the pupils from Bishop Monkton. Their behaviour was outstanding – so much so that even border control commented on how fantastic they were!
A particularly moving moment was our visit to Étaples War Cemetery. The children took great care reading the inscriptions and showed genuine interest, compassion, and respect.
One of the highlights was seeing them interact with Bruno, the local baker - a real character! Thanks to Madame Heap’s excellent teaching, the children handled the challenge with confidence and good humour.
A huge thank you to Madame Heap, Mrs Garner, and the staff from Bishop Monkton for all their hard work in making the trip such a memorable success.
