PE at Kirby Hill School
We have had a great start to the year with PE so far and your children have been enjoying lessons either with Mrs Sheldon on Tuesdays (nursery to Y3) or Mr Cairns on Wednesdays (Y4 to Y6) as well as their second PE lesson or swimming lesson.
Children in years one and two enjoyed the cross country event in Sowerby earlier in the term, and 40 pupils from year three to year six took part in cross country in Thirsk last week with seven children gaining a place in the next round for taking one of the top twelve places in their year group. Well done Olivia, Alex, Edward, Cameron, Ben, Kieran and Martha.
In order to gradually maintain or improve fitness levels in all children, we will be ensuring all lessons have an aerobic warm up, indoors or outside. Please ensure your child has outdoor shoes for PE that fit well as they will be going on the field unless it is very boggy. If they do not have outdoor shoes, they will need to take part in their plimsolls or school shoes. We would also like to remind children with hair that will tie up to ensure a bobble is in school to secure their hair before each lesson.
Please look out for updated information on the sports page of our website as more competitions are entered. Also please remember that if your child has gained a certificate or award outside school, they are welcome to bring it in to school to be celebrated and recorded as a copy or photograph in their class ‘We are proud’ folder.
