Year of Reading

Whole School Bookflix challenge.

2026 saw the launch our whole-school BOOKFLIX reading challenge. This is the first of a series of challenges throughout the year designed to spark excitement about reading. The challenge is accessible to all children, no matter their reading level. Attached to this newsletter are recommended reads from some staff members, with more to follow throughout the year. It’s been wonderful to see children already completing challenges and sharing books with each other. We can’t wait for our first draw next week to see who will win a prize and which class will proudly hold the reading trophy for the week.

A huge thank you as well to everyone who has donated books to top up our lending library! There are some fantastic choices in there, so please do take a look!

Reading Day of Celebration

On Monday, the whole school had a wonderful day celebrating reading! We began the day with a shared reading breakfast with parents and carers and ended with a House Team Big Read. The children were very cosy in their PJs and comfortable clothes. Our School Council is excited to choose which books to spend this year’s reading budget on.

The school council raised a total of £77.30 to spend on new books!
